OCSC's "Navigation III" seminar/study hall
Navigation III is the third course in a three-part navigation series offered to all OCSC members and students free-of-charge. You'll learn all concepts needed for navigating in popular chartering destinations around the world. This session is personalized and interactive, and it covers a variety of topics, from coastal navigation on the California coast to exploiting tropical water clarity to stay in deep water and find a good anchorage.
Topics Covered:
- Using government publications such as the Light List and Coast Pilot to become familiar with a new location
- "Rule of Twelfths" for tides and currents
- Navigation planning for vacation charters (distance, time and daylight considerations in destination planning)
- Introduction to the concept of before- and after-motion
- Current triangles

Prerequisites:
Navigation II or equivalent experience

- Navigation III is free for students already enrolled in classes at OCSC and for members. Reservations are required, so call ahead to reserve a space.
